Indian Harbour Beach-Three Lions also is one of those clubs with a countywide base, and its U-13 boys traveled to Walt Disney World for their title, in the Disney Soccer Showcase Qualifier at Wide World of Sports.
In the semi-finals Three Lions edged Gainesville Soccer Alliance 1-0, thanks to Cody Weidner’s goal on an assist by Tyler Moscrip and a fine performance by keeper Dylon Collins and back four players Calvin Smith, Darren Makowsky, Matt Fleis and Connor Knowlton.
Strictly Soccer of St. Petersburg fell to the Lions in the final, which went to penalty kicks after a 1-1 tie.
Micah Smoak, Cody Weidner, Tyler Moscrip, Austin Wear and Alex Salazar struck the net from the spot to earn the championship and Collins saved a strike by Strictly Soccer.
Jake Bennett, James Bocinsky, Anthony Cally, Ryan Collins, Sterling Munich, Ryan Robidoux, Alexander Salazar, Evan Shump and Austin Wear complete the team, of which James Phillips is coach. ...
